I am thrilled and deeply honored to announce that I am officially an accredited Associate level photographer with The Portrait Masters Awards and Accreditation program! I am also the first (and currently the only) portrait photographer on the island of Maui to receive this designation!
In the last three years, I've shifted my focus from architectural and documentary-style event photography to portrait work that showcases the personalities of kids, tweens, teens, and seniors. This journey has been one of new learning and experiences, as portrait specific photography involves a completely different set of skills.
Images submitted to The portrait Masters Awards and Accreditation are evaluated by a panel of award winning judges (and some of the best photographers in the industry). Images are scored on a scale of 1 to 100 and earn merit points when they have earned a bronze, silver, or gold.
Entering 50+ portraits to reach Associate level has taught me so much about what it takes to express a unique vision in photography. It, quite literally, has made me look at photography in a whole new light (no pun intended).
While it can be hard to have my work critiqued, it has been one of the best ways for me to improve my photography skills and this accreditation recognizes that I have something special to offer my clients.
